URI's Matthews Named A-10 Co-Player of the Week
Last week, Matthews averaged 20 points, five rebounds and two assists for the Rams leading them to a 2-0 record for the week and keeping them undefeated in conference play.
Matthews netted 24 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the game against Fordham and followed that up with an 18 point game on the road against Duquesne.

Five Takeaways From The Rams 61-60 Win Over Duquesne
Points in the paint
The Rams got smoked in the points in the paint department, losing the battle 33-22.
URI only shot 36% from the field and 36% from three-point land but were still able to come away with the win.
It would be nice to see the Rams do a little bit better in the paint, both defending it and scoring in it. Take some pressure off of the shooters.
E.C. Matthews
E.C. Matthews led URI with 18 points but only knocked down five of the 17 shots that he took from the field.
Matthews also went four of 12 from three-point land however two of the four three-pointers he hit were huge. One three pointer tied the game at 49 after the Rams had trailed by 13 in the second half and another three gave URI a one point lead at 59-58.
Matthews has been in double-figures in every game except for two for URI this season.
Hassan Martin
It would be easy to use Hassan Martin for multiple slides after his performance in Saturday's game.
Martin had 15 points and 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season and the sixth one of his career.
Of his ten rebounds, seven of them were on the offensive glass, helping URI pull down 18 offensive rebounds which helped lead to 18 second chance points.
Martin is in the middle of an incredible stretch of basketball right now and the Rams and their fans have to be excited about what they have seen.
Jared Terrell
Freshman Jared Terrell had nine points in 32 minutes of play time, however, he knocked down two of the biggest free throws of the season and certianly of his young career.
Duquesne led 60-59 with twenty seconds left and URI got the ball for a final possession. Jared Terrell got himself to the free throw line with eight seconds to go and knocked down both shots to give the Rams the lead, and the win.
Huge moment for Terrell, being able to step up and knock down those two pressure free throws. This is also a great sign for the Rams going forward

The Rams trailed by as many as 13 points on the road to Duquesne but were able to come back and get a huge win.
Matthews hit a couple of clutch three-pointers and Jared Terrell knocked down the biggest free throws of his young career.
URI got ten points from Jarvis Garrett off the bench and T.J. Buchanan dished out five assists and grabbed six rebounds off the bench.
URI moves to 3-0 in A-10 play for the first time since 1997 and now host #20 VCU on Tuesday night at The Ryan Center.
