Rhode Island handbag designer Kent Stetson has unveiled his latest creations — clutches for Harris-Walz supporters.

As GoLocal first reported in 2023, Stetson’s clever and whimsical accessories were garnering national attention, and attracting big brands such as Jersey Mike’s (and the company's sandwich spokesperson Danny DeVito was an avowed fan).

Now, Stetson has been tapped by some big Democratic players for new designs, and he says he is ready to meet demand should supporters seek out his newest handbags in numbers.

“A month ago, I had an opening to send Biden/Harris campaign sign version of our signature crossbody clutches down to DC for the pass-off to the top brass,” Stetson told GoLocal this weekend. “When the campaign ticket changed, the pieces became relics and we had to revise the design.  I just returned from New York and buyers were all requesting the design.”

In addition to the "Harris-Walz" ticket bag, there are cats — a reference, of course, to the now infamous J.D. Vance line criticizing "childless cat ladies" and "people without children" on the left.

Stetson provided GoLocal a photo of the “original” political prototype when it was still ostensibly a Biden-Harrias ticket, and the Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff was joined by consultant and author Nanette Fridman (see that photo below).

For Stetson, he says 2024 has proved to be a pivotal one for the growth of his business.

“This year has been a career-defining moment.  Beginning on January 1, since [GoLocal] listed me as ’23 Who Made a Difference in 23,’ it hasn’t let up," said Stetson, who added he has been now getting speaking gigs at conferences around the country.

"It’s been a wild year.  FIT has hired me to do a Q&A for the students in their graduate program of global fashion management in a month with industry professionals from around the country," said Stetson.

FIT, of course, is the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.
