Big Tourism Voids: 19 to Watch in 2019

Tourism is one of the most important sectors of the Rhode Island economy and two of the most important positions in the state are now vacant.

Martha Sheridan has left Rhode Island to take the top position as head of the Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau. In November, she announced she was stepping down from her role as president and CEO of the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau (PWCVB) to take on the same role in Boston. 

Then just days later, Lara Salamano announced that she was leaving Commerce RI.  She is going to head Infosys in Providence, but her leadership at Commerce in developing the smart “Fun-Sized” campaign is going to be a hard void to fill.

Of the big three positions in tourism in Rhode Island, now only Evan Smith of Discover Newport remains in place -- who will fill the big shoes in 2019?
