Armenise recently won Restaurateur of the Year by Rhode Island Hospitality, an award she says "feels really amazing for our staff and our team at Blackies because they have worked really hard over the past seven years supporting us and being just as passionate. They’re just as enthusiastic about our brand as we are."
Celebrating seven years of business, Blackie’s Bulldog Tavern serves both over the top indulgent, as well as mindfully healthy dishes, a balance that Chef Armenise put great efforts into. “We have gluten free, dairy free, keto, paleo, vegan and vegetarian options. So we have something for everyone, and we are proud of that. We can provide a dining experience so that no one feels like an outcast due to a dietary restriction ” says Armenise.

Chef Armenise and partner Jeanine Armenise are gearing up to relocate the restaurant, less than a mile away from their current Smithfield standing. The new location will have two pizza ovens imported from Italy built in, one being dedicated solely to gluten-free crusts.
