Just two years ago, former Providence Mayor Angel Taveras joined Adler Pollock & Sheehan; now he is launching his own firm.
Taveras announced, “I’m excited personally and professionally for 2026 as I open my own office, Taveras Law, P.C.! Thank you to my clients, colleagues, friends and family for their support! Cheers to 2026!”
He served as the Mayor of Providence, Rhode Island, from 2011 to 2015. And lost in the Democratic primary for governor in 2014. After leaving City Hall, he joined the law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP as a litigation shareholder in the firm’s Boston office.
During his tenure, he made headlines for firing the city's teachers and then rehiring them days later, managing a massive budget crisis, and shutting down the Davey Lopes swimming pool in one of the city's poorest neighborhoods.
He ran for governor of Rhode Island in 2014 and lost in a three-way Democratic primary against Clay Pell and Gina Raimondo.
Raimondo won the primary and went on to win the governorship.
