POLL: Pell Streaking, Taveras Sinking and Raimondo Leading

A new poll released by Democratic consultant and pollster Joe Fleming finds that Gina Raimondo is benefitting from the decline of Providence Mayor Angel Taveras and the split between the two union candidates – Clay Pell and Taveras.

Raimondo now leads the three-way race with 32% of the vote according to the poll of 503 likely Democratic primary voters.

The big winner in the poll is the surging 32-year-old Clay Pell who may have lost his car in the winter, but has found his political footing this summer. Pell has climbed from 11% to 26% since the last Fleming poll in May.

The loser in the Fleming poll is Providence Mayor Angel Taveras who lost the lead and all momentum. His negative ads hitting both Raimondo and Pell are confusing at best. Providence violence including the high profile murder in Federal Hill makes him look weak. Taveras has slipped to 27% and is functionally in a dead heat with Pell.
