American A Cappella Returns to Ocean State Theatre on May 31

American A Cappella returns to Ocean State Theatre on May 31 at 7 p.m. This one night only performance includes the Coastline Show Chorus and the Narragansett Bay Chorus. They are joined by several of their quartets including Sounderella and Trade Secret.

“Our mission to partner with other organizations and provide a venue for the community is completely realized with this project and we are thrilled to host this event for the third time,” said Ocean State Theatre Company’s Producing Artistic Director, Amiee Turner. “Each time we have partnered with the American A Cappella show it has been a sold out event. It is so wonderful that three not-for-profit organizations are benefiting from this collaboration.”

The Coastline Show Chorus, formerly the Mount Hope Bay Chorus, was founded by three friends closely involved with barbershop singing. What began as a small group of 11 women in Warren, Rhode Island, has grown into a chorus of over 60 members, including women from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Maine. The Coastline Show Chorus has gained an international reputation for exciting, high-energy performances, blending four-part a cappella harmony with energetic choreography. Under the direction of Gail Jencik, the Coastline Show Chorus presents a range of music from treasured American classics to Broadway hits and modern jazz.
