Sara Borges at Narrows

Tonight at The Narrows Center, it’s a Sarah Borges record release event. The Taunton, MA songstress recently released Radio Sweetheart, produced by Steve Berlin of Los Lobos. Sarah’s shows are high energy; put on your dancing shoes and expect a kick-ass Rock and Blues show. She shares the bill with Boston-based alt-country rockers Girls, Guns and Glory. The show starts at 8PM Tickets are $25 in advance, $28 day of show.

Turkuaz – Two Nights at The Spot

The Spot in Providence plays host to Turkuaz, a “powerfunk” band from Brooklyn, NY for two nights beginning tomorrow March 29. The band is comprised of a 9 piece ensemble of hipsters, who are releasing a new album, Future 86, next week. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door and $22 for both nights! The Alan Evans Playon open both nights, Sat at 7:30PM, Sun at 6PM.

Rory Block at Sandywoods

Don’t miss one of the world’s foremost practitioners of the Delta Blues on Sunday as Rory Block visits Sandywoods. You’ll get a lesson in the history of the Blues while you marvel at her exquisite finger-style guitar work. She’ll be at Sandywoods Sunday March 30, at 7PM. Guitarist Marjorie Thompson opens at 7PM. Tickets are $20 in advance, $22 at the door.

Arc Iris at Columbus Theatre

Providence based indie goddess Jocie Adams leads Arc Iris, a band that’s receiving major national buzz. The New York Times is currently streaming their new album here - the band’s eclectic blend of musical genres, from alt-country to jazz, will be evident on Tuesday April 1 at the Columbus Theatre. The Sugar Honey Iced Tea along with Chris Daltry and friends open at 8PM. Tickets for the record release event are $10 in advance, $12 day of show.

Heart at PPAC

Finally, don’t miss Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Heart, who will be in town next Wednesday April 2 performing at PPAC. In the male dominated world of Rock and Roll, the Wilson sisters had a huge influence in the late 70s and 80s, inspiring many young ladies to pick up the guitar. The show starts at 7:30 – a few tickets remain starting at $50.
