During the brunch, Dr. Hazeltine will also be inducted into the Rhode Island Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame.  He has been a faculty member at Brown University since 1959 and specializes in management and engineering courses.

On top of that, Dr. Hazeltine volunteers his time with high school students at the Met’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He also volunteers his time as a judge at the Met Business Plan Competition, which acts as a culmination of the school’s 60-hour entrepreneurship course.

“Dr. Hazeltine is a rockstar educator," said said Dennis Littky, co-founder and co-director of Big Picture Learning and the Met. "And many of his students see him as the heart and soul of Brown. He gets that students learn best when what they’re taught is connected to the real world. That’s why he fits in so well with our Met culture."

"His dedication and passion to supporting student entrepreneurs is truly inspiring and we’re proud to recognize his life and work. Honoring him at our June event will reinforce our shared our mission to educate and empower youth through a relentless commitment to student-centered learning and personal growth."

Tickets for the event are $100 each and can purchased at metcenter.org or through Sara Whitney, Development Coordinator. She can be reached at [email protected] or 401-626-3970. All proceeds raised will support program expansion and technological upgrades.
