The Method

In order to determine the best job markets in the U.S., WalletHub’s analysts compared the 150 most populated cities across two key dimensions, namely “Job Market” and “Socioeconomic Environment.”

They assigned a heavier weight to the former as the factors in that category most heavily influence a job seeker’s decision in terms of relocation for employment.

WalletHub then evaluated the dimensions using 23 relevant metrics. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with 100 representing the most favorable conditions for job seekers.

Lastly, WalletHub then calculated the overall score for each city based on its weighted average across all metrics and used the resulting scores to rank the cities accordingly.
