NEW: Newport Hospital Names Brandos Chief Nursing Officer & VP of Patient Care

Newport Hospital has named Orla Brandos, RN, DNP, as its new chief nursing officer and vice president of patient care services. Brandos was selected following a national search and has 25 years of nursing and nurse leadership experience.

“Orla brings to Newport a unique mixture of nursing experience, work ethic and personal commitment that will significantly benefit patients and staff here in Newport,” said Tom McGue, chief medical officer and vice president of medical affairs.

“I am passionate about safety and quality – about ensuring that patients receive the best care in the safest environment. I’ve worked at community hospitals throughout my career and I love the small, family feel of Newport Hospital where you have staff who have been there a long time and are truly invested in their work. In such a setting you get to know every employee," added Brandos.

Brandos will join Newport Hospital on November 30th.

Orla Brandos

Orla Brandos is a native of Ireland and previously served as the associate chief nurse for maternal/child health and ambulatory nursing services at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.

Prior to that, Brandos' served as the vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer at Morton Hospital in Taunton, Massachusetts. Brandos has also served as director of nursing at Lee Memorial Health systems in Fort Myers, Florida.

Brandos is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives; the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses; the National Association for Healthcare Quality; the National Association of Neonatal Nurses; and the Organization of Nurse Leaders in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Brandos received a bachelor's degree in nursing from Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts; a master's in business administration from Western New England College in Springfield and a master of science in nursing from the University of Phoenix.

Newport Hospital

Founded in 1873, Newport Hospital is Newport County's only acute care hospital. The hospital is located on Powel Avenue and it s community hospital with a wide range of health services, including emergency department, a birthing center, behavioral health unite, surgical services and more.
