How To Celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Jaws in Rhode Island

Jaws, based on Peter Benchley’s book bearing the same title, is celebrating 40 years in June of 2015.

The classic film first opened in theaters on June 1, 1975 and grossed a record setting $7 million on opening weekend.

This movie, which was filmed on Martha’s Vineyard, demonstrated a desperate struggle of man vs. monster that continues to resonate with viewers.

Jaws was Steven Spielberg first highly successful film that made him famous. The film went on to win three academy awards.

Showcase Cinemas in both Warwick and the Providence Place Mall will be holding a special screening of Jaws to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the movie’s release.

The showing will take place at 2 and 7 P.M. on both June 21st and 24th. 

Crush It Like Quint

To celebrate the occasion, Narragansett Beer is selling limited edition "Retro Cans" (a list of locations to purchase can be found here). These 12oz cans, sold in 18 packs, are the same as the one memorably crushed by Quint in the movie Jaws
