Fit for Life: The Most Horrible Time of the Year

I love the holidays just as much as anyone else, however, it’s a nightmare before Christmas when you are in the coaching and accountability or gym business.

I’ll tell you why:
1. It’s the perfect time to kick the can (the one with your goals in it) down the road.
Most people that aren’t fit yet, or aren’t consistent with their fitness programs give up and mentally check out.
The mindset is that they will start again fresh in the New Year.
This is a BIG BIG mistake because when you take where you are now, then add those extra 15 holiday pounds, you dig yourself deeper into despair and make it more difficult on yourself later on.
So instead of accepting you won’t be perfect or trying to limit or minimize the damage, you fall backwards even farther and really wreak havoc on yourself.
2. You lose track of the calories you consume because you stop tracking and become less consistent due to holiday distractions.
Office parties, a few drinks, lunch & dinner with friends, a quick cookie, a few drinks etc.
Here is where those extra calories find their way to your waistline because they sneak up on you.
Most people aren’t aware that alcoholic beverages contain 80+ calories each and overindulge this time of year. Drinks won’t fill you up, so it’s easy to consume too many, and when you loosen up your inhibitions diminish, and you get careless.
3. You justify your excuses. Family, Holiday Parties etc. are scapegoats for being structured and disciplined.
Don’t be one of those “I will start after the holidays” because it’s a busy time for me.
News flash, it’s a busy and stressful time for everyone, so that excuse may be valid, but it doesn’t relieve you from your responsibility of taking care of your health and fitness.
You have time to get a 30-minute workout in because I know that you spend at least that much time scrolling social media, so get your priorities in line, and make it happen.
I get it, no-one is looking to commit to a structured program now, and I don’t expect you to, however, I also can’t find any good reason why you should use this time of the year as an excuse to self-destruct.
For the month of December, Providence, Fit Body Boot Camp will be offering a 2-week FREE promotion.
You can come in, workout, get some mindset coaching, and hold yourself accountable, so you can walk into the new year feeling great and staying consistent with your goals. Heck, you may even lose a few pounds.

Committed to your success,
