H.P. Lovecraft Walking Tour Returns to Providence for 9th Year

The H.P. Lovecraft Walking Tour and the Flickers' Vortex Sci-Fi, Fantasy Horror Film Festival is returning to Providence  in October. The festival will run from October 15-19th and the Lovecraft Tour will be offered on Saturday, October 24th at noon and Sunday October 25th, also a noon.

“This walking tour is a wonderful opportunity for fans of H.P. Lovecraft to connect with the man behind the writer, and for others to discover his genius,” said George T. Marshall, RIIFF Executive Director.

Participants in the tour will see the site of his former house, as well as locales mentioned in The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, The Haunted of the Dark, The Shunned House, and The Call of Cthulhu.

Following the 90 minute tour, participants will be able to view films that inspired by Lovecraft.

Tickets for the walking tour are $18 per person and can be purchased by clicking here. The price includes a ticket to the film screening.

H.P. Lovecraft

Lovecraft's "Providence stories"  were written between 1924 and 1935 and are the inspiration behind the tour. Lovecraft wrote about landmarks like Prospect Terrace, the First Baptist Church and Benefit Street houses.

“Lovecraft’s horror writing continues to resonate with audiences today and provides inspiration for some of the most chilling and terrifying stories in the genre. His work has become part of our popular culture and a major source of academic study," said Shawn Quirk, the Horror Festival Program Director.
