PCD's Liebhauser Named Finalist for National Merit Scholarship

The Providence Country Day School has announced that Max Liebhauser, '16 has been named a finalist in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program.

The National Merit Scholarship Program recognizes academic excellence from a field of approximately 1.5 million high school students throughout the United States from September through June.

The field is then narrowed to “recognized students”—about 50,000; “commended students”—about 34,000; “semi-finalists”—about 16,000; “finalists”—15,000; and “scholarship winners”—7,400.

Students who score in the top 1% of high school seniors, on the Preliminary SAT (PSAT) achieve semi-finalist status, after which they submit a detailed application, to demonstrate school engagement and leadership potential.

Merit Scholars are selected on a state-representational basis without consideration of family financial circumstances, college choice, or major and career plans.

The Providence Country Day School was established in 1923 and is a college preparatory school seeing students in grades 6-12.
