Ranglin-Vassell to Host "Women Empowering Women" Forum on Violence Prevention

Marcia Ranglin-Vassell hosts Women Empowering Women panel
State Representative Marcia Ranglin-Vassell will host “Women Empowering Women: a Community Forum on Violence Prevention” as part of Women’s History Month.

"Gun violence and domestic violence is preventable, and this past summer was a defining moment in my life. I recognized that I could not stand on the sidelines any longer, not when my students were dying in the streets. So, I decided to run for public office for the very first time because it would provide me with the opportunity to make a difference by ensuring that we pass good common sense gun laws," said Rep Ranglin-Vassell.

The forum will take place on Saturday, March 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Slavin Center at Providence College. It is free and open to the public.

The forum's keynote speaker is Lucy McBath, the mother of Jordan Davis, an unarmed teenager who was shot and killed at a gas station in Florida because of "loud noise."

The forum will include a survivor panel as well as hands-on workshops and resources on advocacy, financial literacy, survivor self-care, teen dating violence prevention, and crime victim compensation, as well as other useful community information.
