Scott Molloy to Give Lecture at PC’s Irish Heritage Event

Providence College announced that Dr. Scott Molloy Ph.D., will deliver the school’s annual Irish History Lecture.

The lecture will take place on Thursday, March 5 at 6 p.m. in the Slavin Center.

The evening will also feature a performance by the Providence College Irish Step Dancers.

About Malloy

Molloy earned his Ph.D. from Providence College in 1991 and is professor emeritus at the University of Rhode Island.

He taught at the Schmidt Labor Research Center at URI for thirty years and was honored as URI’s professor of the year in 1995.

The Smithsonian Institution acquired his collection of 10,000 labor union artifacts and named it after him.

He is the author of a definitive biography of Joseph Banigan, Irish Titan, Irish Toilers: Joseph Banigan and Nineteenth-Century New England Labor.

Molloy served as grand marshal of the Providence St. Patrick’s Day Parade in 2018. 

He also is a member of the Rhode Island Heritage Hall of Fame.
