195 Crash Victim Flown by Helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital

The victim of a crash on 195 on Saturday morning was transported to Rhode Island Hospital via helicopter.

According to the Swansea Fire Department:

At approximately 07:30 this morning, Swansea Fire was dispatched to Interstate 195 West for a vehicle accident involving a large truck.

Upon arrival, Car 1 found that the truck had left the roadway and overturned trapping the driver inside.

Crews from Engines 1, 2 and Rescue 1 along with personnel from Swansea Ambulance worked for nearly 30 minutes to stabilize and extricate the patient.

Due to the prolonged extrication time, Boston Medflight was requested to the scene.

The single occupant of the vehicle was transported by Medflight to the trauma center at Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of significant injuries.
