Raimondo Orders Dine-In at RI Restaurants Shut Down for 2 Weeks, Take-Out & Delivery Allowed

Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo announced Monday -- in the first of two press conferences -- that she is ordering all dining-in at restaurants shut down for two weeks. 

"Effective tomorrow -- March 17 to March 30 — dine-in food services in Rhode Island will be shut down," said Raimondo.

Under the order, delivery is still allowed. 

"Drive through and take out can remain open," she announced. "The department of health will be enforcing this."

"This is a serious step, we’re facing a serious crisis. I’ll make a decision in two weeks if we can ease this," she said. 

Raimondo also ordered no more gatherings of 25 or more.

Economic Assistance 

Raimondo also noted that at the federal level, that Rhode Island is applying for an economic injury declaration, in order to provide businesses with working capital loans for fixed operating costs.
