An elderly woman was killed in a hit-and-run in Providence, GoLocal has learned.

According to police, the 85-year-old woman was crossing North Main at Pleasant Street on Wednesday morning at 6 AM when she was hit.

The victim, who was walking with her husband at the time, was taken by rescue to Rhode Island Hospital.

She later succumbed to her injuries at died.

Detectives are currently investigating.

Police are not releasing any additional information at this time.
