Elorza to Join Providence Forum Urging Parents to Speak with Kids

Providence Talks will host a forum to discuss citywide expansion and approaches that can better prepare kids for school tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Petteruti Lounge, Stephen Roberts Center at Brown University.

Providence Talks will look to close the city's achievement gap by motivating families to talk more to their children.

The forum will feature speakers such as Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza and author Dr. Dana Suskind as well as Dr. Kenneth Wong of Brown University among others.

Providence Talks

Providence Talks was launched in 2014 after the City of Providence won a $5 million grant through Bloomberg Philanthropies' 2013 Mayors Challenge and has since enrolled over 175 families in the curriculum.

The Providence Talks curriculum includes home coaching visits by trained staff, innovative word counting technology and progress reports.
