Former Providence City Council President Fargnoli Passes Away at 93

The Providence City Council issued the following statement on Saturday regarding Fargnoli’s passing.
"The members of the Providence City Council are saddened to learn of former Council President Evelyn Fargnoli's passing and wish her family their condolences. Councilwoman Fargnoli was a true pioneer in Providence politics and leaves behind a remarkable legacy of public service."

Fargnoli served on the Providence City Council for 16 years, retiring as Council President in 1998.
She served on the Narragansett Bay Commission, Providence Water Supply Board, Providence Parks Commission, the RIC Foundation, Providence College Presidents Council, the Providence Plan, the City of Providence Charter Commissions of 1980 and 1990.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, June 14 at 9 a.m. at the Maceroni Funeral Home, located at 1381 Smith Street in North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Avenue Providence.
Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery in Cranston. Calling hours on Tuesday are from 5-8 p.m.
