Providence police are investigating a shooting in the city on Wednesday evening.

Shortly before 6 PM, police responded to a call for a man who had been shot on Coggeshall Street, between Douglas Avenue and Admiral Street.

Upon arrival, police encountered the victim, who was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

According to police, the man is currently in stable condition on Thursday morning following surgery.

Detectives are currently investigating.
