Man Stabbed in Kennedy Plaza, Providence Police Make Arrest

On Friday night, a 41-year-old man was stabbed in Kennedy Plaza in Downtown Providence. The stabbing took place at about 6:30 PM.

According to Providence Police, the victim suffered a significant injury to his abdomen and was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital.

The patrolman assigned to the area captured the man responsible for the stabbing. According to the police, he admitted to the stabbing, but claimed self-defense.

Detectives and BCI responded to the scene.  The incident was captured on RIPTA security cameras.

For Providence, it was just the latest act of violence. In just over six months there have been 12 murders and two in just the past ten days.
