About Incident

Police responded to Parkside on South Main Street on Wednesday night shortly after 10 PM for a report of a possible break-in in process.

The restaurant is located between the Superior Court House and the Rhode Island Attorney General's office.

When police arrived, they said they encountered the suspect — later identified as Kevin Gonsalves, age 44.

According to police, Gonsalves was in possession of several items, including reported stolen property from a prior incident.

Gonsalves was taken into custody by police and arrested.

The restaurant manager told police that she had seen Gonsalves — who she did not know — on camera in the basement, when the building should have been unoccupied.
