According to Rhode Island State Police Major Timothy Sanzi, the investigation showed that Vazquez appeared to have sought shelter in a dumpster filled with cardboard at a fast-food restaurant in Cranston on Wednesday night.
A recycling truck arrived at the restaurant on Thursday morning to empty the dumpster. The driver did not see or hear anyone in the dumpster and was not aware there was anyone inside at the time.
Vazquez’ body was discovered when the driver delivered the contents of the dumpster to the recycling facility in Johnston on Thursday morning.
Sanzi added that there were no signs of foul play and the death does not appear to be suspicious.
An autopsy has been conducted and the results are pending the outcome of toxicology tests.
