Suspect in Custody in Recent Providence Double Homicide After Warwick SWAT Team Raids House

Providence Police have a suspect in custody following the recent double homicide in the city. 

According to Providence Police Detectives Major David Lapatin, the Warwick SWAT team conducted a raid at a home on Highland Avenue in the city early Thursday morning. 

Providence police had an active arrest warrant for a suspect who lived in the house — as well as a search warrant.

“The raid occurred at 6:30 — multiple people were taken out of the house and the suspect was taken into custody,” said Lapatin. 

“This is an ongoing investigation,” said Lapatin.

 

Latest in Double Homicide Investigation 

As GoLocal reported on October 28: 

Two people were killed overnight in Providence.

According to police, a man and woman were shot while sitting in a vehicle.

The victims were found on Hathaway Street, off Elmwood and Park Avenues on the Cranston border. 

The two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. 

The homicides are the city's 12th and 13th of the year.
