Shortly after 12:30 AM, Warwick Police were called to Blake Street for a report of a domestic disturbance “involving a firearm.”

According to police, an adult female resident called 911 and reported that her brother - an adult - was “being belligerent and had her firearm.”

Police said that upon arrival, the female caller and two other residents exited the residence at the request of officers and that the adult male “refused to exit at the officers’ request.”

“He was believed to be in possession of a firearm. This male is known to the police and is a person prohibited from possessing a firearm,” said police.

SWAT Called In

At that point, the Warwick Police Department’s SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Teams were deployed to the scene.

Police say that male continued to refuse to exit the residence voluntarily “despite a lengthy dialogue between the male and police personnel via telephone.”

“After the dialogue and other methods failed to resolve the matter, SWAT personnel did make entry into the residence at approximately 9:30 am and did take the male into custody. The male did have the firearm in his possession when taken into custody,” said police.

More Info Forthcoming
