Newport St. Patrick’s Day: Great Weather, Big Crowds and 12 Arrests

Newport celebrated its 68th annual St. Patrick’s Day parade — there were big crowds, great weather, and a slew of arrests and citations.

 

The annual celebration of Irish heritage brought thousands to Newport. The Parade saw politicians, floats, and bands.

But, some some troubles too.

 

According to Newport Police, as of 9:50 pm on Saturday night, there have been 12 physical arrests, 82 citations issued, and one Driving Under the Influence charge during the course of the day.

 

The Parade’s Grand Marshal, Fire Chief Humphrey J. “Harp” Donnelly, IV, is the fourth child of six and the first son of Humphrey J. “Harp” Donnelly, III, and Barbara A. (Herrick) Donnelly.
