Police Seize Guns After Two Men Shot Near Basketball Court in Providence
As GoLocal reported, two men were shot in the city overnight — now, new details are emerging about the incident and the aftermath.

Shortly before 8 PM on Thursday, police were flagged down by a woman in a car, who said there were people shooting at each other near the basketball court on Candace Street.
The park is located next to the intersection of Smith Street and Orms Street.
Police said they located one victim lying on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
That victim — a male in his 20s — was transported by rescue to Rhode Island Hospital. Shortly thereafter, another victim — a male — arrived at the hospital with a wound to his head.
According to police, a house a block from the courts had a bullet hole through the second floor wall — which was found lodged in a bedroom wall.
Guns Seized
Following the shooting, police said that they then patrolled an area in Silver Lake that they knew to be where one of the shooting victims resides.
According to police, shortly after midnight, at the location of the victim’s known residence, they encountered three men loitering outside of the house.
Police said a person in the group appeared to be concealing an object in his waistband, and which time police frisked the individual and found a loaded gun.
Another member of the group told police he was in possession of a gun in his vehicle, which police said upon running a background check, was found to be stolen.
Both subjects were turned over to police for charging.
"There is a possibility the individuals detained [in Silver Lake] are known to the victims," Providence Police Major David Lapatin confirmed, adding that police are currently investigating.
