Providence police are investigating a report of a robbery at knifepoint at a convenience store in the city on Monday.

About Incident

On Monday night, police responded to a report of a robbery at Sam's Food Mart, at 981 Manton Avenue.

The call came in shortly before 10 PM.

Police said they met with the cashier, who said a male came into the store with a large steel knife and informed him that he was being robbed.

The cashier told police that the suspect robbed the store of its cash -- as well as a pack of cigarettes -- before fleeing.

Providence police, who confirmed the incident, are currently investigating.
