Providence Police Arrest Man With Loaded Weapon at Black Lives Matter Rally

Police had been posted at Providence Place Mall for the rally taking place at the State House, when shortly after 7:30 PM a woman approached them to say a subject in the crowd had a firearm in his waistband.
According to police, she pointed out the subject who was carrying a sign which stated “F-ck the Police."

According to police, officers immediately grabbed hold of Torres and informed him it was reported that he was in possession of a firearm, at which time Torres stated he was.
Police said they then immediately seized a black Taurus 9mm handgun containing 11 live rounds in the magazine and 1 live round in the chamber from the back of Torres waistband. Torres informed Police that he only had a blue card and does not have a license to carry.
Torres was immediately placed into custody without incident and transported to Central Station where he was turned over to Detectives for charging.
