Raimondo Wins NOW Endorsement But Won’t Commit to Women’s Fund Forum

Raimondo Skipping Women's Fund forum
The Rhode Island Chapter of the National Organization for Women announced that it has endorsed Gina Raimondo for re-election to a second term, but the Women’s Fund says that Raimondo won’t be attending their gubernatorial forum.

“RI NOW PAC’s endorsement of Governor Raimondo was an was an obvious one as her agenda is closely aligned with ours,” said RI NOW PAC President Hilary Levey Friedman.

“Governor Raimondo is a tireless champion for Rhode Island women and families. Early in her first term the Governor created an equal pay tip line. …She’s also an excellent role model for young people all around our state and we’re thrilled to support her re-election campaign,” said Levey Friedman.

Raimondo Skipping Women’s Fund

Women's Fund of Rhode Island will host a gubernatorial candidates forum on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at 5:30 PM at Rhode Island College.

One would think Raimondo, who has been avoiding debates would join in this event to support the organization as the "Women's Fund of Rhode Island invests in women and girls through advocacy, research, and leadership development."

The forum will be moderated by Maureen Moakley, Professor of Political Science at the University of Rhode Island and regular commentator on Rhode Island PBS and Rhode Island NPR Political Roundtable. Who has committed — Matt Brown, Independent candidate for Governor, Spencer Dickinson, Democratic candidate for Governor, Giovanni Feroce, Republican candidate for Governor, Luis-Daniel Munoz, Independent candidate for Governor, and Paul Roselli, Democratic candidate for Governor.

The candidates will be asked questions that speak to the following categories:

Economic Independence – Jobs, Wages, Workplace Flexibility

Equal Representation – Women in Leadership, Women in Government

Reproductive Health Access & Freedom

Accountability – Policy Making and Budgeting with RI Women and Families in Mind
