Brown Football Coach Estes to Throw Out 1st Pitch at Fenway on Sunday When Red Sox Host Yankees

Brown football coach Phil Estes will throw out the first pitch at Fenway Park before Sunday afternoon’s Red Sox game against the New York Yankees. It is a double-header with the second and final game of the series taking place on Sunday night.

The first pitch comes in advance of the Fenway Gridiron Series that will feature Brown facing Dartmouth on November 10.

Brown vs Dartmouth

The Bears and Big Green will meet for the 95th time dating back to 1894. This will be the third game in the all-time series that will be played at Fenway Park, the first two coming in 1922 and 1923. 

Brown beat Dartmouth 24-21 at Brown Stadium this past season, finishing the year with a 4-6 record overall.

Phil Estes

In Estes’ time at Brown, he has led the team to three Ivy League titles (1999, 2005, 2008) as well as four second place finishes and five third place finishes. 

His 76 career Ivy League wins are the most ever at Brown and rank sixth in the Ivy League, while his 112 overall wins rank 10th all-time in the Ivy League. 

He is the second winningest coach in Brown football history and has seen five of his players go on to win Super Bowl rings, including New England Patriots fullback James Develin. 

This season will be Estes' 20th at Brown.
