Bryant Football Set to Host Marist on Saturday Night

Bryant hosts Marist on Saturday night
The Bryant Bulldogs football team (1-1) returns home on Saturday night to host the (0-1) Marist Red Foxes.

The Bulldogs are looking to get back in the win column after a 51-20 loss to Stony Brook last Saturday.

“We have had a great week of practice, we played a terrific team last week, one of the best in the FBS. We took this week to practice and learn the lessons as to what we have to do better, I expect us to play hard on Saturday," Bryant head coach James Perry told GoLocalProv.

Bryant vs Marist

The Bulldogs and Red Foxes will meet for the third time on Saturday with Marist holding a 2-0 series lead.

"Marist is perennially one of the best programs in the league, they play in a league called The Pioneer, and they know how to win. They have very good team speed and they really know how to execute. It will be a good challenge," said Perry.

The last meeting between the teams came in 2012 when Marist poured on 28-straight points in the second and third quarter to win 35-10.

Bryant Offense

Last week despite the loss, the Bryant offense put up 413 total yards and 23 first downs against Stony Brook.

"I think we are always getting better, one of our goals from last year was to make sure we took another step. I think what we are doing so far is showing that. We are playing faster, we're a little more comfortable with the offense and so it is exciting," said Perry.

The Bulldogs will look to build off the momentum generated by senior Brenden Femiano, who carried the ball 19 times for 106 yards last week.

Wide receiver Vincent Nisivoccia hauled in four passes for 61 yards and two touchdowns, while totaling 1896 all-purpose yards.

Under center, Price Wilson has completed 70 percent of his passes for 514 yards and six touchdowns through the first two games.

Bryant Defense

On the defensive side of the ball, all eyes will be on senior Thomas Costigan, who posted 12 tackles last weekend and is just four shy of 200 for his career.

He also added the 21st sack of his career, the third most in program history.
