Celtics Host Paul Pierce, Doc Rivers & The LA Clippers Tonight

The Boston Celtics (31-23) host the (35-17) LA Clippers tonight at TD Garden in Boston. The game marks the return of Doc Rivers and Paul Pierce.

The Celtics are coming off of a 112-111 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night in a game where they came back from a 19 point deficit, only to lose it in the final seconds on an Avery Bradley foul.

While Boston caught a bad break against the Bucks, they catch a big break against the Clippers as superstar forward Blake Griffin will not be playing. The Clippers announced on Tuesday that Griffin has been suspended for four games after punching an equipment staffer.

Paul Pierce

Paul Pierce was drafted by the Celtics, out of Kansas, in 1998 and spent 15 seasons with the team, winning one NBA title and making it back to the finals two years later. Pierce was traded to the Brooklyn Nets prior to the 2013-14 season before playing with the Washington Wizards and now the LA Clippers.

As Pierce makes another emotional return to Boston, GoLocal goes inside the numbers.

Doc Rivers

Doc Rivers coached the Celtics from 2004-2013, winning one NBA title and getting back to the finals a couple of years later, losing to the Lakers.

With the Celtics, Rivers recorded 416 wins and helped lead the team to 7 playoff appearances.

Rivers left the Celtics after the 2013 season when it was clear the team was going into a rebuild.

With LA, Rivers has led the Clippers to playoff appearances in two straight seasons, losing in the conference semi-finals each time.
