Celtics Rank as 4th Most Valuable Franchise in NBA

The Boston Celtics have been ranked as the NBA's fourth most valuable franchise with a value of $2.1 billion, according to Forbes Magazine's latest rankings. 

The Celtics are currently 22-20 on the season and looking to get back to the playoffs for the second straight year.

The most valuable team in the NBA is the New York Knicks, with a value of $3 billion and the Los Angeles Lakers rank second with a value of $2.7 billion. 

The Chicago Bulls rank third with a value of $2.3 billion while the Los Angeles Clippers close out the top five  with an average of $2 billion. 

The New Orleans Pelicans are the NBA's least valuable franchise sitting at $650 million.

The NBA Overall 

Overall, the NBA as 13 franchises worth at least $1 billion, up from just three franchises worth that much two years ago. 

The average NBA franchise is now worth $1.25 billion, up 13% over the last year on the heels of a 74% gain the previous year once national media deals were completed.

Last season, the  NBA's 30 teams generated $5.2 billion in revenue and $900 million in operating profit.

Both numbers are records.
