Brown Lacrosse Rolls Johns Hopkins in 1st Round of NCAA Tourney

The 5th seeded Brown Bears men's lacrosse team defeated the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays 17-8 on Saturday at Stevenson-Pincince Field on the campus of Brown University. Brown beats Johns Hopkins for only the second time in program history and advances to the quarterfinals next week at Brown Stadium. 

Brown had a commanding 6-2 lead after the first and put the game away in the third by netting 8 goals in the period while limiting Johns Hopkins to only 1 goal in the period. 

Brown Takes Early Control

The game got off to a slow start but the Bears got on the board with 4:23 left to play in the first quarter on a goal by Henry Blynn and took a 1-0 lead.

Just ten seconds later, Brown was on the board again when Jake Miller found the back of the net for his 5th goal of the season off a pass from Dylan Molloy to put Brown up 2-0. 

In the second quarter, Dylan Molloy would score his first of the game to give Brown a 3-0 lead with 13:54 to play. 

Johns Hopkins would get on the board on a goal by Cattoni Holden to cut Brown's lead to two goals.

However, Brown responded by scoring three of the next four goals to take a 6-2 lead into the locker room. 

The Leaders 

Brown was led by Dylan Molloy who tallied 4 goals and 4 assists while his teammate Henry Blynn added 4 goals of his own. 

Molloy now has a total of 114 points on the season, pulling closer to the all-time record of 128 points in a season. 

Brown goaltender Jack Kelly made 11 saves in the game. 

Next up 

Brown will face the winner of Yale vs. Navy which takes place on Sunday.
