NEW: Coventry Little League Falls to Pittsfield, Massachusetts 10-1

Coventry Little League falls to Massachusetts
Coventry Little League fell to Massachusetts' Pittsfield American Little League 10-1 on Wednesday afternoon in the New England regional in Bristol, Connecticut.

Pittsfield will now go on to play in the New England Regional Championship on Saturday, August 11 at 1 p.m. Coventry continues to play as the tournament is a double-elimination tournament. Rhode Island will play the winner of the Connecticut and New Hampshire game being played on Thursday. The Coventry team will play on Friday.

Coventry Falls to Pittsfield

Pittsfield took control of the game in the first inning, putting up three runs in the bottom of the first to take a 3-0 lead.

Pittsfield’s Nick Brindle scored on a single to right field by Evan Blake to go up 1-0.

Ben Jacob would extend MA’s lead to 2-0 when he scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-0.

Blake would then score on a sacrifice fly by Tommy Mullin to go up 3-0 in the inning.

After a scoreless second inning, Pittsfield's would add three more runs in the third inning helped by a two-run home run from Antonio Scalise to go up 5-0.

Cam Sime would make it 6-0 when he scored on an RBI single by Bindle.

After Coventry got on the board in the fourth to make it 6-1, Pittsfield scored three more runs in the bottom of the inning to cruise to the win.

Coventry’s Run

Coventry entered the game with a record of 2-0 after beating both Connecticut and Vermont 10-0.

Throughout their run, they were led by Tommy Turner, who had four hits in those two games, along with three RBIs, while Jake Mather also had four hits and three RBIs.

Against Connecticut, Turner pitched four innings of no-hit ball, while Logan Lama and Mather combined to hold Vermont to just three hits over five innings.
