The Boston Red Sox have signed starting pitcher David Price, 30, to a seven year, $217 million contract, according to reports.

Price played for the Detroit Tigers and then the AL East Rival Toronto Blue Jays last season, going 9-1with a 2.30 ERA in 11 starts with Toronto, and helping them to their first playoff berth since 1993.

Overall, Price went 18-5 with a 2.45 ERA in 220 1/3 innings. Price tallied 225 strikeouts on the season, fourth most in the league.

However, Price has struggled in the playoffs. In his career, Price is 2-7 with a 5.12 ERA in 14 career playoff games.
