NEW: RI's Faxon Sets Course Record at Senior Players Championship

Rhode Island native Brad Faxon set a new course record at Belmont Country Club in Massachusetts, shooting a 7-under par 64 in the second round of the Senior Players Championship on the Champions Tour.

Faxon tallied three birdies and an eagle on the front nine before adding two more birdies on the back nine. During the round, Faxon dropped putts of 50ft, 30ft, 20ft and 15ft to get to the record 7-under par.

The second round 64 puts Brad Faxon at four under par and in a tie for eighth place for the tournament, with second round play still in progress. Faxon carded a 74 in the tournaments first round.

Bernhard Langer leads the Senior Players Championship after shooting back to back 65's to put him at 12-under for the tournament.  

Round three tee times have yet to be determined.

CVS Health Charity Classic

After the Senior Players Championship concludes, Faxon will get set to return to Rhode Island to co-host the 17th annual CVS Health Charity Classic  with fellow Rhode Islander Billy Andrade.

Since it’s start in 1999, the CVS Charity Classic has raised over $17 million for local charities in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts.

This year's CVS Charity Classic will be held from June 28-30th at Rhode Island Country Club and will feature include players such as Keegan Bradley, Hunter Mahan, Webb Simpson and Juli Inkster among other PGA and LPGA professionals.
