Patriots 2015 Preseason Opponents Announced

The Patriots now know their opponents for the 2015 preseason
Although many in New England are still reveling in the aftermath of the Patriots Super Bowl XLIX victory, the 2015 NFL season is already beginning to take shape. The first step occurred on Thursday when the NFL announced the preseason matchups for 2015.

With the announcement, The Patriots found out that they would be hosting the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants and travel to New Orleans to play the Saints and Carolina to face the Panthers.  The official schedule has not been set, but it is set that the Patriots and Packers will play Week 1 of the preseason, Patriots and Saints Week 2, Patriots and Panthers Week 3 and Patriots and Giants Week 4.

The Patriots preseason matchup with the Packers will be a rematch of the epic Week 13 battle in 2014. The Packers came out n top in that game at Lambeau Field, 26-21.

The Patriots will then travel to New Orleans to take on a Saints team they hosted in the 2012 preseason. This is likely a chance for the Patriots to have joint practices, much like the two teams did at Gillette Stadium ahead of their 2012 preseason matchup.

Week 3 of the preseason will be the same in 2015 as it was in 2014, a matchup with the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers visited New England in 2014, and the Patriots will return the favor in 2015.

The Patriots finish the preseason the same way they have for each of the previous 11 seasons — taking on the New York Giants. It will be the 25th time the Patriots and Giants have met in the preseason. These two teams will see each other more than once, as the AFC and NFC East will play against each other in 2015.

With the preseason teams set, it is expected that the Patriots regular season opener will soon be announced.
