Patriots Cut Roster to 75 Players

The New England Patriots made a number of roster moves on Tuesday in order to get down to the NFL mandatory cut-down to a 75-man roster. 

New England cut linebacker Ramon Humber, offensive lineman Keavon Milton and tight end Steven Scheu. 

The Patriots also placed running back Dion Lewis on and offensive tackle Sebastian Vollmer on the Reserve/PUP List, which means they will be out for at least the first six weeks of the season.

Ramon Humber 

Humber joined the Patriots as a free agent on March9, 2016 and has played 7 seasons in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints. 

Keavon Milton 

Milton joined the Patriots as a member of the practice squad in November of 2015 after originally entering the NFL as a rookie free agent with the New Orleans Saints in 2013. 

Steven Scheu 

Scheu was signed by the Patriots as a rookie free agent out of Vanderbilt on May 6, 2016. He played in 47 career games in college and totaled 83 receptions for 933 yards and 8 touchdowns. 

Important Dates 

The Patriots will play thier final preseason game on Thursday against the New York Giants at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey. Kick off is set for 7:30 p.m. 

Following that game, the Patriots, as well as the rest of the NFL, must cut their rosters down to 53 players by Saturday at 4 p.m. 

Tom Brady's suspension offically begins on Sunday, September 3 and the Patriots open up the regular season on Sunday, September 11 on the road against Arizona. 

That game is set for 8:30 p.m. as it will be on Sunday Night Football.
