Patriots Release Wide Receiver Nate Washington

Nate Washington
The New England Patriots released wide receiver Nate Washington on Wednesday.

New England signed Washington, 33, to a one year deal worth $60,000 guaranteed in the offseason in order to provide depth as an outside receiver, however, Washington missed multiple practices in training camp and was not able to catch up.

Last season, Washington caught 47 passes for 658 yards and four touchdowns with the Houston Texans .

Washington's release means that Keshawn Martin, Aaron Dobson, Chris Harper, DeAndre Carter and Devin Lucien are left to compete for what could be just one roster opening at the wide receiver position.
