Red Sox Win 5th Straight, Beat Mariners 3-0

Eduardo Rodriguez pitches six scoreless innings
The Boston Red Sox shut out the Seattle Mariners 3-0 for their fifth straight win on Friday night at Fenway Park.

Boston pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez gave up five hits and struck out four batters in six innings to pick up his fourth win of the season.

He has pitched at least six innings in his last seven starts.

The Red Sox improve to 26-21 on the season.

Run Support

While the Red Sox offense was not as explosive as it had been in previous games, they would give Rodriguez more than enough run support.

Boston got on the board in the second inning when Josh Rutledge drove in Hanley Ramirez with a RBI groundout to put the Red Sox up 1-0.

Boston would then capitalize on two fielding errors by the Mariners in the sixth inning to take a 3-0 lead.

Mariners Chances

Despite the Red Sox pitching performance, the Mariners had their fair share of chances.

Seattle had six hits in the game, but went 0 for 6 with runners in scoring position.

They also left seven runners on base overall.

Red Sox closer Craig Kimbrel came on in the top of the 9th and got the Mariners in order for his 13th save of the season.
