In January of 2023, it was big news when top recruit Kayvaun Mulready signed with the Providence College men’s basketball team.

The 6-foot-4-inch prospect selected Providence over finalists that included Big East rivals Connecticut and Marquette.

He was a big get — a 4-star recruit in the top 100 high school players in the country. He was eligible for the 2024-2025 academic year.

But two months later, after Coach Ed Cooley announced he was leaving PC to take the head coaching job at Georgetown University, Mulready announced he was decommitting from Providence.

Shortly thereafter, he announced he was following Cooley to Georgetown.

In this past season, his freshman year Mulready averaged just 1.1 ppg for the Hoyas.

On Tuesday, he announced he entered the transfer portal.

The Friars also took a hit when PC recruit Drew Fielder bowed out.

Fielder was a 4-star recruit when he committed to PC, but like Mulready, left for the Hoyas.

“I chose Georgetown because of my relationship with coach (Ed) Cooley,” Fielder told On3 at the time of his switch. “I really trust what he’s saying and I really believe that he believes in me. He believes we can make Georgetown really good together. They have a good history and we want to keep that going. Keep the history of elite bigs coming through. I’m really excited.”

Fielder played two years for the Hoyas, and this past season was the fifth leading scorer at 7.1 ppg and averaged 5.4 rebounds a game.

He entered the transfer portal and has now committed to the University of Southern California.

Two years later, the two Friars are moving again.
