URI Men’s Basketball Opens With 31 Point Win

The University of Rhode Island men’s basketball team opened with another new roster and blew out Stetson University on Monday night at the Ryan Center.

The final score was 93-62.

Six Rams were in double figures, including all five starters.

The Rams are another new team. The program has been a revolving door program with 49 players on the team in the past five seasons.

- Tyler Cochran led all Rhode Island scorers with 17 points and nine rebounds.
- He also added a team-high four steals with three assists.
- Jahmere Tripp added 15 points off the bench.
- Keeyan Itejere had 13 points on a perfect four-of-four shooting effort and a five-of-six performance from the free throw line. 
- Both Jonah Hinton and Myles Corey had 12 points and shot 4-of-6 from the field. 
- Alex Crawford had 10 points in his Rhode Island debut.
- Mouhamed Sow notched five points with eight rebounds.
- RJ Johnson had a game-high six assists.
- Damone King had five points in his college debut.
- Barrett Loer and Jalen Harper also saw action in their first college game. Loer had two points and one assist, while Harper had one steal and one rebound.
- Rhode Island forced 20 turnovers and held the Hatters to a 38 percent shooting from the field.

 

NEXT
The Rams head on the road for a neutral site game against Tulsa at Navy on Friday night. The game is a part of the 2025 Veterans' Classic and will air on CBS Sports Network at 6 p.m.
