195 Commission Announces New BioTech Proposal for Providence Land

The 195 Commission has announced a new proposal for development of the former interstate land has been submitted -- by groups involved with the South Street landing project.

195 Commission spokeswoman Dyana Koelsch provided the following statement on Wednesday on behalf of 195 Chairman Joe Azrack.

"We are pleased to receive the CV Properties and Wexford Science and Technology proposal for the I-195 District Commission's Parcels 22 and 25. The Partners are experienced in Providence by virtue of their involvement in the redevelopment of the South Street Landing property and nationally in the development of high quality urban life science development," said Azrack.

"The proposed mixed-use development plan, with its focus on research and development facilities to serve local institutions and attract new employers to the city, is consistent with the vision we have for establishing knowledge based industry on the I-195 land," continued Azrack. "Importantly, the development plan also contemplates a mix of uses including hospitality, residential and retail uses. We look forward to working with the sponsors to bring this plan to fruition."
