South County Farm to Close

A South County farm is closing.

This week, Pasquale Farms went on social media to announce their "bittersweet" decision to shutter their Richmond operation. 

Calling itself a "garden center with a twist," Pasquale Farms featured annuals, nursery stock, a general store, and hosted public and private events.

Pasquale Farms announced the "Great Pumpkin Growers" event will return this year at Frerich Farms in Warren. 

Message to Community 

Lauren Pasquale shared the following on Wednesday:

Hi Folks. I’m sure that by now many of you have heard that we made the difficult decision not to host the Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off at the farm this year. I would like to ask you to show [Frerichs Farm] all of your support and appreciation, because they stepped up at a day's notice to host the Giant Pumpkin Growers. The Growers are a group of some of the truly nicest humans, a loyal and dedicated bunch, and we wish them all the best at their weigh-off this year. 

Closing our Richmond location is the definition of bittersweet. We had huge exciting plans for this space, and we are fiercely proud of the ideas we had for the community, and our success at executing so many of them. We have made lifelong friends and partnerships, and we have learned that even the best-laid plans…well you know the saying.

Frank and I have had our fair share of heartbreak, betrayal, illness and injury since we opened the retail location. But we met it all head on, always together, and we are proud of that and stronger as a result. 

The good memories are worth the struggle. The amazing humans, friends, family that supported us - we could never show you how grateful we truly are!

Social media will be quiet for a few weeks while we do some housekeeping and blood pressure lowering. But not to worry, we’ll be back in action soon. Our Portsmouth farm is full of plants that need our full attention, and keep an eye out for a closing sale and our final Farm Night in Richmond.
