Residential Properties Ltd. announced that Sales Associate Paul Chapman has joined the exceptional roster of professionals at our South County office. With a background in construction, business, and customer relations, he has a unique and effective skill set to guide you through any real estate endeavor.
Though he grew up in the rural Midwest, he has lived in South Kingstown for over two decades and loves it more than anywhere else. He comes to RPL after a long, successful career as a licensed general contractor, making him an expert in repair costs and remodeling. Having started multiple businesses as an entrepreneur, he is able to simplify the intricacies around finance, insurance, and negotiation for all sorts of clients.
To learn more about Paul and his unique professional experience, we sat down for a short Q&A.
Tell us about your professional experience.
“I was a licensed, bonded, and insured general contractor specializing in finish carpentry and remodeling. I have helped start multiple successful companies, but also have been a counselor and Christian minister for 25 years. My goal has always been to help people in a direct and meaningful way. My intimate knowledge of home building and my people-focused experience as a counselor distinguishes my brand of real estate. Trust and guidance are part of everything I do.”
Where did you grow up?
“I was born in the Midwest in a small country town with more cows and cornfields than people and understand the blessings and challenges of country living. I also worked in Chicago for seven years, so I know firsthand the unique opportunities and demands of city life too. I have worked successfully with clients ranging from multi-millionaires to first-time homebuyers. My contrasting life experiences prepared me to help people in every area of real estate.”
When did you discover the Rhode Island / New England area?
“My wife is from Maine. I fell in love with New England when we would drive out annually to spend time with her family. I love every part of the region – the rocky shores of Maine, the White Mountains of New Hampshire, the rivers of Vermont, rural areas of Massachusetts and Connecticut, cities such as Boston, Providence, and New Haven; it’s all here! But South County is my favorite part of New England. I feel blessed to live here and enjoy helping others raise their families in our beautiful area.”
What made you choose to join Residential Properties?
“I have worked with other real estate companies, but Residential Properties has a unique business model that creates the best of both worlds for agents and clients. Everybody works to support one another and is committed to providing the best service in the industry. As an agent, I feel supported by the executive team, managers, administrative staff, and our in-house marketing department. Add to that the company’s four stellar decades of serving the community and its sterling reputation and it becomes a very clear choice.”
Tell us about your service to the South County community.
“I love South County and have worked for 20 years to improve the lives of my neighbors by empowering them with the physical, emotional, and spiritual resources they need to thrive. As a Christian minister, I volunteer in prisons, nursing homes, addiction recovery groups, and low-income housing complexes, in addition to helping people of all ages through our local church. It is so nourishing and rewarding to bond with people in our community and recognize the spirit that connects us all.”
What is your non-work life like these days?
“I am blessed with a sweet wife and three amazing children. My spouse has a debilitating chronic illness, so we spend most of our family time at home around the house, but I do enjoy lifting weights at the Y and visiting local coffee shops in search of the perfect cup of Joe! Plus, South County is blessed with such a beautiful coastline that I make time to simply admire God’s creation.”
